Turning 30. Starting Over at 30. The Spiritual Significance of Age 30. After 29
In exactly 13 days, I will be 30. This is so exciting and yet so scary. I am excited because I don’t know what this new decade holds for me, but I feel it will be better than the last. I am scared because, again, I don’t know what this new decade holds for me, and all I know of it is what has been said about it, especially for women.
And it makes me think I’m done for.
My 20s were challenging. I lived them taking risks, building, and surviving alone, even when I had people around me. I lived so many times in obscurity, and mostly stuck in my 20s. Especially during COVID-19.
I just started feeling like I’m getting unstuck. And in getting to that point, I turn 30.
The question becomes, what did you do with your 20s?
You are 30 now, what have you done?
Nobody is asking you, How did you survive? Because that’s what most of us have been doing.
Nobody says, ‘Well done and welcome to a new season, because you so deserve it. ‘ Nobody.

That led me to go study, research, and pray.
To find out anything I can find about turning 30. If it means something. If it’s just another year in your life. If it means nothing. If what they say about it is true or not.
And I’m glad I went on this journey. I’m glad I did the research, and what I found out encouraged me, blessed me, energized me, and got me excited and looking forward to the day I turn 30.
Now, I want to share it with you, so you can use it for yourself as you turn 30 or even if you have already.
First, I believe something must have happened at some point and somewhere in the universe that might have made us to worry, fear and get overwhelmed when we are about to hit 30.
And I believe that the something that happened is from people who created a false narrative of age 30.
We don’t approach our 3rd decade with enthusiasm as those who are grateful to have the opportunity to still be breathing on this planet.
Can you imagine those who passed before 30? If they had the chance to do it all over again, will they be wondering that they’re too old? or what have they achieved? or will they be grateful that they are still alive and get to LIVE?
I believe it is the latter.
If that’s the case, it is only wise to look at each day, and each year you celebrate another year from the perspective of mortality.
Knowing that you could die at any minute, or you could’ve been dead, will help you forget everything else you worry about and put on a garment of gratitude.
There’s a quote I saw on the internet that puts this in better perspective. ”a person who turns 30 is old, but who dies at 30 is young.”
So profound!

What does this tell you? Society decided what 30 would mean, and we bought into it. But they’re wrong.
There’s a spiritual significance to turning 30. We will look into that in a minute. Before that, let’s look at a couple of things that make us fear turning 30, like:
-the fear of being too old for our dreams
-the feeling of inadequacy that you haven’t achieved what you want to achieve or what is expected of you by 30
-feeling like a failure
-the loss of time
-fear that it’s too late
-fear of starting over
-fear of being single
You see what they all are?
Fears.
And fear is a seed of lies planted by the enemy to keep us from believing in ourselves and stepping into our highest, biggest, next level version of ourselves. Because God forbid, you know the truth, oh the things you could be or do.
We say; No more.
Now, I’ll let you know the spiritual significance of turning 30.
For example, in scripture, the age of 30 is mentioned in significant contexts, including;
-Jesus’ ministry,
-the beginning of the Levite service, and
-the reigns of kings like David and Saul
*Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his public ministry.
*Levites began their service in the tabernacle at the age of 30.
*David became king at age 30.
*Saul became king at age 30
Other examples:
-Joseph became second in command to Pharaoh at age 30 after being in prison as a slave in Egypt
-Ezekiel was called by God as a prophet at age 30
Did you see the pattern?
Did you see what seems to happen when people turn 30 since the dawn of time?
Did you see how Heaven officially seals them when they turn 30?
If you didn’t notice, let me point them out. When they turn 30, they either:
-begin
-become (or come into their own)
-get ‘called’
-transcend to a new level, (that is, level up)
-get promoted or
-Step into leadership, etc.
So, spiritually, according to the calendar of heaven, turning 30 is when they say to you, ‘it’s time’, and appoint you into your next level.
Turning 30 is the beginning of your life. You begin to live, you begin to become. And you become, to take charge. You begin to own. Own yourself, your narrative, your story, your purpose, your calling, your voice.
Your first 10 years is when you are molded by your parents as you figure out that you are a human being.
Your second 10 years is when you practice being a human being based on what daddy and mommy said.
In your next 10 years, everything around you will try you and test you. Test what you’ve been taught at home, what you believe, and what you were destined to be.
When you are done with that, and you turn 30. You become a fully formed and ready powerhouse, ready to be deployed for the work you were called to do.
That is why, from scripture and a spiritual standpoint, that is when you begin, that is when you become, that is when you are called into whatever it is that has been predestined for you.
In summary, the good seeds you’ve sown will germinate this decade.
Age 30 is for reigning, coming out of your shell, and being seen.
It’s the age where you announce, and amplify yourself, all you do and all you are or want to be.
Age 30 is for answering your calling, and living out your purpose.
Age 30 is for leadership
In the Bible, age 30 symbolizes “dedication to a calling or set apart for a specific task.”
The meaning of 30 comes, in part, from it symbolizing dedication to a particular task or calling. Aaronic priests were initially dedicated to serving at thirty years of age (Num. 4:3). God likely chose 30 because it was when a person reached both physical and mental maturity and could therefore handle major responsibilities.
John the Baptist, who was of priestly descent (his mother was a descendant of the daughters of Aaron, and his father was a priest), began his ministry at age 30.
In the fall of 26 A.D., at the age of thirty, Christ began to publicly preach the gospel.
Serug (the great-grandfather of Abraham) had their first sons at the age of 30.
You will birth new things this season: children, companies, organizations.
You will start walking in your purpose this season.
You will shine this season.
The prophet Ezekiel begins his book of the same name in the thirtieth year (which likely referenced his age at the time – Ezekiel 1:1). It is at this time that he receives his first recorded vision from God.
You will receive visions, heavenly downloads of what to do.
You will write books this season.
Abraham bartered with Jesus, who had taken human form, in an attempt to save the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah from destruction. He first got the Lord to agree to spare the cities if 50 righteous were found, then 45, then 40 (Genesis 18:22-29). He then got the Lord to agree to spare them if 30 righteous were discovered.
At age 30, there’s Grace and Mercy available to you for a second chance, a fresh start, a new beginning. It’s almost as though, when you turn 30, heaven sees a blank slate for you to rewrite your story. It’s not about what you’ve lost, they’re saying you can gain new things now.
Jair, one of the Judges of Israel delineated in the Bible, had thirty sons. He was wealthy enough not only to provide each of them with their own horse to ride, but also gave each of them a city for 30 total (Judges 10:4). Ibzan, another Judge of Israel, had thirty sons and the same amount of daughters (Judges 12:9).
You will have an abundance this season. You will have all that you need and want this season. And whatever you get, you will have more than enough to take care of it. If you have an idea, you will have the right people to help you run it.
WOW!!!
So, you see? We are in good company.
This is not the end of the road for us. This is the beginning of a new life for us, a new and better chapter that is sparkling beautiful.
This is not a woe is me season for us. This is a ‘Yay, this is me’ season
We are not done for. Everything is rather done for us.
This is our time!
We are ready.
And it will be better than the past years we’ve ever lived.
I found that 30 is a product of 2 x 3 x 5, all of which are prime numbers. And I looked up what prime numbers were, and it says ‘a whole number greater than 1 that cannot be exactly divided by any whole number other than itself and 1’
Well, you are whole; this is the season of wholeness. You just stepped into it. You can only be divided by you and 1. And 1 signifies God and love.
So, you are unstoppable this season (Cue: Sia Unstoppable song)
You are unbreakable, you are irreplaceable.
God has placed you, God has sealed you, only God can unseal you or displace you, and because He’s love, all He will do to you and for you will be just and fair.
So you are safe, blessed, hidden, and kept in Him.
The downside of this is, if you can be divided only by you and God, God won’t hurt you, but you can hurt yourself. Be careful who you let in, the company you keep, and the words you let out of your mouth; they are powerful, so you are not your own nemesis.
The Hebrew Gereshon (Strong’s Concordance #H1648), translated as “Gershon” or “Gershom” in the King James, is written 30 times in 30 Old Testament Hebrew verses. It is found the most in the book of 1 Chronicles (12 times). It is the name of several individuals in Scripture, including the firstborn son of Levi (Genesis 46:11) and Moses. And these are priests. Priests are mediators between God and His people
Therefore, it’s your year of firsts. First of many good and perfect beginnings that will change your life for the better.
There are very few things that are life-changing, like: who you marry, the kids you will have, where you will live and plant roots, the income system you need to have, and finding your calling.
In your 30s and above, many firsts will happen for you, and they will be for good.
Not just that, this is your era of priesthood. Walk into rooms and ask for what you need, talk to God, and it will work. You will get answers. You will be heard this time around. Period.
The Greek Kaisar (Strong’s #G2541), translated as “Caesar” in the King James, is recorded 30 times in 24 Greek New Testament verses. It is utilized the most in the book of Acts (11 times). The word, which means “severed,” was first used by Julius Caesar. After his death, those who ruled the Roman Empire used it as part of their title.
The word “severed,” which means cut off or sliced off. And it was used as a title so you are permanently cut off and sliced off from where you were to a new level. In the level up game, you can’t go back to who you used to be, know or behave like. You can’t even go back to certain people. To maintain this title, it means you are cut off permanently from mediocrity, invisibility, fear, brokedom, laziness, procrastination, people pleasing, insecurity, negativity, gossip, and anything less than an upgrade
The problem is that many get to this age and adding the title ‘Caesar’ to who they become now is a requirement but because its too hard, they choose easy and they turn 40 without receiving the blessings that came with 30, this is a recipe for living a life where you end up with regrets.
Choose today who you want to become.
The Hebrew word ribqah, Strong’s Concordance #H7259, is recorded 30 times in 29 Hebrew Old Testament verses. The word, which means “fettering by beauty” or “ensnarer,” is found only in the book of Genesis. In the King James, it is translated as “Rebekah,” the name of the patriarch Isaac’s wife.
This part was funny to me, fettering by beauty. Fettering means to restrain or confine, that is, restrained or confined by beauty. Ensnare means to catch in or to trap. So ensarer is someone who can trap or catch. Meaning that ‘ribqah’ means someone who can trap and confine beauty. Wow.
And it was the name of Isaac’s Wife. Like a whole human being has a name that means that she traps and catches and confines people, or whatever she wants, just by her beauty. How beautiful she must have been?
You see, I dare say, that beauty isn’t a privilege, it’s an era. There’s a level of beauty you are about to attain now as you turn 30, that skin care, beauty products cannot give to you. A kind of beauty that heals, purifies, inspires, brings one to tears, and to their knees.
It’s not a kind of beauty you get with surgery and botox or pandering to the beauty standards set by society, it is a beauty that shines forth from the inside out.
No one can explain it, not even you. It’s a beauty whose time has come. It’s a beauty that has come to full maturity. Nothing can stop that. Nothing can change it. You can’t compete with a person who’s in their season. You will just shine forth. Light will beam out of you.
You’ve stepped into an era where your beauty ensnares. You can’t help it. It just happens. You step into a lifestyle of divine beauty. Experts can’t explain what makes you beautiful. Your name, voice, presence, and smell are just beautiful. It’s from your soul, it’s from heaven, because it’s your time.
You will use your beauty to get what you need and keep it. That kind of beauty is only released to women of wisdom, walking in their purpose, because without wisdom steeped in purpose, it will be abused.
Both the death of Aaron and Moses was mourned by the children of Israel for 30 days (Num. 20:29, Deuteronomy 34:8).
30 seems to mean full circle, the completion of a circle. And when a circle is complete, there’s newness, freshness, there’s a new beginning. And a new beginning comes with abundance and open doors.
The death of Aaron and Moses is the end of a cycle, a season, a reign, a Kingdom, and the beginning of the reign of Joshua. The old you is dead, the new you will be born on your 30th year. This is a rebirth.
In fact, I’ll call year 30 as the year of the phoenix, a year of the rebirth, you will need to reintroduce yourself, which means you will need to reinvent yourself.
I believe reinvention is much more potent in your year 30 because of the spiritual backing that comes with it. Your year 30 is a new circle, a new beginning. It’s a fresh start for you.
In 30 A.D., the New Testament church was born.
And thousands of years later, the movement is still going strong. What will be born in this season, as you turn 30, will be transgenerational. This is your Legacy building years.
